A "young" yahoo with several interests including: correlations in nuclei (cluster aggregation, structure, and emission); fission (ternary fission, fission properties of the sub-actinides); the nuclear equation-of-state (phase transitions in small systems); reaction dynamics. He likes to build detectors and electronics too! Hobbies include running and IU basketball.

Dr. Sylvie Hudan
Assistant Scientist
shudan@indiana.edu 812-855-8212
Sylvie joined the group in Jan. 2002. She comes to us from France, specifically Universite de Caen/GANIL where she completed a Ph.D. in nuclear physics.

Prof. Vic Viola
Professor Emeritus

Recently retired, Vic is widely known (and respected) not only for the science he has done (e.g. Viola fission systematics) but also for making the science we do understandable to the broader scientific commmunity as well as general public.  Loves to ski too!

Graduate Students

Mr. Alan McIntosh abmcinto@indiana.edu 812-855-4201
Alan joined the group when following graduation from IU he started working as a summer student in 2004. He then got excited about nuclear chemistry and decided to go to graduate school. He has spent considerable time in 2005-2006 investigating proximity decay and the tidal effect. Alan is presently deeply involved in running and analyzing experiment E432a at GANIL (summer 2007). This experiment will constitute his PhD experiment.

Undergraduate Students

Mr. Brice Floyd brfloyd@indiana.edu 812-855-4201 photo coming soon
Brice joined the group in Fall 2007 after taking C117 with Dr. deSouza the previous Spring semester. He is working on becoming familar with general tools and techniques in the laboratory including vacuum systems. At present he is working on building a micochannel plate detector that is essential to upcoming fusion and fission experiments in the group.
